ManyChat Greeting Text: 5 Examples

I get asked a lot about what’s the best Greeting Text for ManyChat.

So I thought I write a short guide about it with some examples 🙃

What is a Greeting Text?

The “Greeting Text” is the text people see before they click the “Get Started” button in Messenger.

Don’t confuse it with the Welcome Message, that’s what people get after they click the “Get Started” button.

Here’s an example:

So people usually see this when they open a conversation with your page directly, or when they click a Messenger Ref URL.

When people come into your bot through a Comment Growth Tool or Facebook Ad, they won’t see this.

How do you set up a Greeting Text in ManyChat?

Luckily for you, this is suuuuuper easy! 😄

Inside ManyChat, go to Settings » General.

There at the top, you see where you can set the Greeting Text.

Just insert your new text and click save.

And if you like, you can click “See how it looks” to get a preview of what it looks like inside Messenger 🙃

Keep in mind that the maximum amount of characters is 160.

5 Greeting Text Examples

I think, your Greeting Text should contain 2 things:

• The first name.
• A call-to-action to click the Get Started button.

So here’s my top pick to include both these things:

Hey John! Click the button below to get started 🙂

See how simple that is?

But this simple line I’ve been using effectively for years.

It greets the subscriber & tells them what to do.

Don’t overcomplicate it.

But in case you are still doubting, here are a few more examples:

Hey John! Just click the button below to start chatting! 🙌

And if you have some kind of social proof, like a high number of subscribers, then you could also use that.

Hi John! Join over 20.000 marketers who get our weekly tips in Messenger. Smack the button below to start ↓

Or explain people what they’ll learn more about after they subscribe.

Welcome John! Smack the button below to learn more about xyz 🙂

Or be specific about what kind of experience that they’re about to start.

There’s not really a right or wrong, as long as you tell people to click the button 🙃
